An Indigenous-Led Wildlife, Conservation & Environmental Justice Experience

Embark on a one-of-a-kind private journey exploring the story of the endangered Red Wolf through the lenses of Indigenous stewardship, wildlife conservation, and environmental justice.

This exclusive full-day experience combines wildlife education, cultural interpretation, and immersive learning as participants travel from central North Carolina to the heart of Red Wolf recovery efforts in eastern North Carolina.

Led by Indigenous educators and environmental advocates, this experience explores the cultural significance of wolves, the challenges facing endangered species recovery, and the growing movement to recognize the Rights of Nature and Rights of Species.

These tours are only offered on Thursday, and everyone must be ready to leave Mebane at 9:00 am; we will return around 10:30 pm the same day.

Tour Highlights

Stop 1: Museum of Life and Science (Durham, NC)

Begin the day with a visit to the Museum of Life and Science, where participants will explore exhibits focused on wildlife, ecology, and Red Wolf conservation.

Admission Included.

Stop 2: Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge (Manteo, NC)

Travel to one of the last places on Earth where wild Red Wolves still roam.

Participants will join a guided refuge tour led by refuge staff and volunteers, exploring habitats that support:

• River Otters
• Bald Eagles
• Alligators
• Turtles
• Migratory Birds
• Coastal Wetlands

Wildlife sightings vary by season and are never guaranteed, making every experience unique.
